Precious Treasures offers fulltime care only. If you wish your child to enter parttime, you are welcome to do that, but, since every child is at least 1/5 of our income, tuition remains the same regardless of the number of days any child attends. Drop ins for the day, evening, and/or weekend are welcome, if we have availability.
As of March 2021, over 30% of childcare providers in Contra Costa County closed permanently due to COVID and Licensing regulations discouraged many providers from having/continuing infant programs. As of February 2024, almost half of all family child care educators closed their doors. Finding quality care for infants is almost impossible.
According to the National Survey of Early Care and Education (NSECE), there are one million paid providers caring for three million children from birth to age five in the home of the provider...data from 2017 shows 123,816 licensed family child care (providers)...that includes 86,309 small family childcare programs, which ACF defines as a solo person/no other workers. The number of licensed family childcare homes fell by 52% from 2005 to 2017 and by 22% from 2014 to 2017.
Additionally, studies show children should remain in childcare as long as possible because...
"...There is evidence that consistent and reliable caregiving supports early neurological development.
...Having the same family childcare provider for several years provides the opportunity for a responsive relationship between the infant or toddler and the adult caregiver.
...Family childcare provides children an opportunity to be cared for in smaller groups and to be cared for by a provider who is responsible for fewer children than in a center setting. These small group sizes facilitate the strengths of relationships and interactions."

At Precious Treasures, openings are rare because children remain from about 3-6 months until they leave for transitional kindergarten or kindergarten (4-5 years of age). We are very blessed to have such long relationships with the children in our care and their families. Won't you join us?
Licensing ratio requirements dictate space availability and unexpected openings can occur at any time. The following anticipated openings are available at Precious Treasures as of May 2024...
...Infants -- August 12, 2024 (1 space), and April 30, 2025 (1 space)
...Toddlers -- February 10, 2025 (1 space)
Interviews will begin two months in advance of anticipated openings.
For licensing purposes, an "infant" is a child 0-23 months of age and a "toddler" is a child 2-5 years of age, not yet attending school.
A waitlist is available (with paperwork and a fee), but everyone is required to participate in an interview beforehand. Please contact us to schedule a virtual appointment today!
